Building the tech layer for
Africa's beauty economy

I'm Layo — founder and CEO of Splice, host of the Beyond Beauty Podcast, and a product strategist who has helped build products used by over 100 million people across three continents. Now I'm betting on the people who hold Africa's beauty industry up.

I spent 13 years building products that millions of people rely on every day — from Nigeria's most-loved savings platform to one of the world's largest digital banks. Then in 2020, I helped a friend who owned a salon in Lagos figure out her operations during lockdown, and I found the problem I actually wanted to solve.

Africa's beauty and wellness industry is worth $10 billion. The people running it are talented, resilient, and deeply underserved by technology. Most were managing their entire businesses through WhatsApp groups. I wanted to change that.

I founded Splice — an all-in-one booking, payment, and business management platform built specifically for African beauty and wellness businesses. Not adapted from a foreign product. Built from the ground up, with and for the people who need it.

Beyond the software, I host the Beyond Beauty Podcast — real conversations with the salon founders, nail techs, and spa managers who are holding an entire industry together. I'm also a founding member of the Feminist Coalition and a mentor in the Google for Startups Africa Accelerator.
